About this role
Allen Control Systems, a defense startup developing autonomous counter-drone technology, seeks an Associate Mechanical Engineer to design and validate mechanical systems for demanding military applications. You'll perform simulations, support prototype development, and collaborate across disciplines to integrate electromechanical components while learning from experienced engineers.
What you'll do
- Design mechanical systems meeting MIL-STD-810 specifications for vibration, shock, thermal, and environmental durability
- Conduct FEA, modal, vibration, and thermal analyses to assess design reliability under operational stress
- Integrate electromechanical components including sensors, actuators, and wiring harnesses into mechanical structures
- Support prototype development, testing, validation, and documentation of design specifications and test protocols
- Participate in cross-functional design reviews to identify mechanical risks early using DFM and DFR principles
What they're looking for
- 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo)
- FEA and thermal simulation (ANSYS or SolidWorks Simulation)
- MIL-STD-810 mechanical durability requirements
- Electromechanical integration and component interfacing
- Technical documentation and design specifications
