Exterior Mirror Design Release Engineer (DRE) – Automotive Mechatronics
About this role
ALTEN Technology USA seeks an experienced Design Release Engineer to oversee exterior mirror component development for automotive production vehicles, managing the complete lifecycle from concept through launch. You'll direct supplier design efforts, ensure compliance with specifications, and support vehicle integration across prism, electrochromic, and digital mirror systems.
What you'll do
- Oversee supplier design efforts and conduct design reviews to meet client specifications for mirror components
- Develop and maintain DFMEA, DVP&R, boundary diagrams, and interface matrices throughout the development cycle
- Perform CAE analysis, vehicle packaging in NX, and kinematic/compliance modeling for mirror systems
- Support system integration with ECUs, network communications, and surrounding vehicle components
- Conduct RFQ evaluations, benchmarking, and competitive analysis on emerging mirror technologies
- Manage change control, engineering releases, and regulatory compliance coordination with suppliers
