About this role

Anduril Industries seeks a Field Test Engineer to lead hands-on operations and testing of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) in maritime environments. You'll manage field deployments, conduct troubleshooting and maintenance, execute test plans at sea, and support both nearshore operations in Massachusetts and global customer-facing missions with approximately 50% travel.

What you'll do

  • Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain AUVs during design, integration, and testing phases
  • Lead pre-mission testing, launch/recovery, vehicle tasking, and data analysis for multiple AUV platforms
  • Write, execute, and coordinate test plans with vendors and partners during sea operations
  • Author detailed operational test reports documenting platform evaluation and capability testing
  • Support software UI design and generate user documentation for AUV systems
  • Conduct design reviews and contribute to next-generation platform improvements

  • 3+ years operating robotic systems offshore in commercial or research settings
  • On-deck operations with ship cranes and AUV launch/recovery systems
  • Linux and command-line interface experience
  • Electronics troubleshooting and test equipment usage
  • Software debugging and Microsoft Excel proficiency
  • Subsea operational procedures and equipment knowledge
  • Technical communication and customer support
  • Engineering drawing interpretation (preferred)
