About this role
Anduril Industries seeks an Optical Engineer to lead design and architecture of advanced imaging systems for military applications. You'll transition optical prototypes to production-ready systems while managing complex opto-mechanical challenges across visible and infrared spectrum for ground and airborne platforms.
What you'll do
- Lead optical architecture decisions and trade studies for novel imaging systems across diverse missions
- Design and tolerance lenses and optical components for high-performance visible to infrared systems
- Transition prototype optical assemblies to production-ready fieldable systems
- Develop test procedures and validate optical system performance from R&D through production
- Conduct root cause analysis on prototype and production optical performance errors
- Serve as optical engineering subject matter expert collaborating across disciplines
What they're looking for
- Optical system design and analysis (Zemax or CodeV preferred)
- Complex opto-mechanical systems experience
- STOP (Structural, Thermal, and Optical Performance) analysis
- LIDAR, laser communications, or adaptive optics systems
- Image quality metrics and data analysis
- Diffraction-limited imaging system design
- Optical component testing and alignment
- Radiometry and stray light analysis
