About this role

Anduril Industries seeks a Software Engineer to develop a sensor simulation platform that generates synthetic imagery for autonomy testing, ML training, and system integration. You'll build realistic graphics and sensor physics in Unreal Engine to close the gap between simulation and real-world performance for defense systems.

What you'll do

  • Develop core Unreal Engine capabilities including terrain rendering, vehicle physics, and sensor simulation
  • Integrate third-party plugins and tools into the simulation platform while troubleshooting compatibility issues
  • Collaborate with autonomy and perception teams to improve sensor fidelity and environmental realism
  • Ensure seamless integration with other platform services across the company
  • Iterate on synthetic data pipelines based on feedback from SITL/HITL testing and ML teams
  • Troubleshoot and optimize remotely deployed software systems

What they're looking for

  • C++ programming (4+ years required)
  • Unreal Engine or robotics/autonomy systems experience
  • Data structures, algorithms, and code optimization
  • Performance analysis and debugging tools (gdb, perf, bpftrace)
  • Linux development environment
  • GPU/graphics programming (HLSL, Vulkan, CUDA preferred)
  • Sensor physics modeling (cameras, LiDAR, radar, EO/IR)
  • Machine learning and computer vision familiarity (preferred)
