About this role
Anduril Industries seeks a Stress Analysis Engineer to lead structural integrity for advanced maritime and subsea hardware, bridging classical stress analysis, finite element modeling, and materials engineering. You'll own design allowables, perform structural assessments from concept through qualification, and drive test programs for high-consequence defense systems.
What you'll do
- Perform classical hand calculations and advanced FEA (linear, non-linear, buckling, fatigue, fracture mechanics) on maritime pressure boundaries and structural enclosures
- Define and maintain statistical design allowables (A- and B-basis) for metallic and composite materials; oversee centralized allowables database
- Develop coupon-level test matrices to characterize tensile strength, fatigue, fracture toughness, and environmental degradation
- Integrate Materials & Processes specifications, heat treatments, and weld joint efficiencies into finite element models and margin calculations
- Quantify manufacturing-induced effects (residual stresses, weld distortion) and provide dispositions for non-conformances and material anomalies
- Lead structural test campaigns from coupon-level testing to full-scale qualification, partnering with internal and external test facilities
