About this role

Apex is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to design and secure cloud environments supporting U.S. government and DoD missions. You'll implement compliance frameworks (NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, RMF) across AWS GovCloud, Azure, and hybrid clouds while managing threat detection, vulnerability assessments, and incident response.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement secure cloud architectures across AWS GovCloud, Azure, and Google Cloud with encryption, network segmentation, and least privilege access
  • Configure IAM, RBAC, Just-In-Time access, and Zero Trust Architecture across multi-cloud environments
  • Deploy and optimize cloud-native security tools including Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure Sentinel, and Elastic SIEM for threat detection and monitoring
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security configuration reviews against STIGs and CIS benchmarks
  • Develop and maintain System Security Plans, Security Assessment Reports, and compliance documentation for DoD IL-2/4/5 and FedRAMP standards
  • Investigate security incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and coordinate incident response activities in cloud environments
