Electro-Optical Engineer
About this role
Apex seeks an Electro-Optical Engineer to lead sensor product development for satellite buses from concept through production qualification. You'll own the full lifecycle—architecture, design, analysis, testing, and field performance—while collaborating across disciplines and serving as the technical authority for sensor systems.
What you'll do
- Own sensor products through complete development lifecycle including conceptualization, design, analysis, prototyping, qualification, and production
- Lead verification and validation activities; develop and execute qualification test campaigns with plans, procedures, and reports
- Perform system and component-level trade studies to optimize performance, cost, schedule, and technical risk
- Conduct failure investigations and root cause analyses to improve future designs
- Collaborate cross-functionally with structures, thermal, optics, avionics, software, and manufacturing teams
- Serve as Responsible Engineering Authority providing technical solutions and guidance during production
