About this role
Apex seeks an Inspector/Field Engineer to oversee construction activities on public works and civil infrastructure projects in California, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and agency standards. The role combines on-site inspection, technical documentation, and coordination with contractors and stakeholders across diverse project types including roadways, utilities, drainage systems, and municipal improvements.
What you'll do
- Conduct construction inspection and field engineering on public works and civil infrastructure projects
- Monitor construction conformance with approved plans, specifications, permits, codes, and contract requirements
- Read, interpret, and apply civil engineering plans, profiles, cross-sections, and technical specifications
- Prepare daily inspection reports and construction logs documenting work, materials, activities, weather, testing, and site conditions
- Maintain organized photographic documentation of construction progress, deficiencies, and completed work
- Identify and document construction deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions with contractors
