Water Resources Engineer PE

About this role

Apex Companies seeks an experienced Water Resources Engineer PE to lead stormwater and flood mitigation projects in Fort Myers on a hybrid basis. You'll manage design, permitting, and construction oversight while mentoring team members and coordinating with regulatory agencies.

What you'll do

• Design water control structures, flood mitigation systems, and water quality improvement projects from concept through final construction drawings
• Perform stormwater analysis, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling, floodplain mapping, and regulatory permitting
• Conduct technical review and seal engineering designs as a licensed PE
• Oversee pre-construction, construction, and post-construction project implementation with field coordination
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and timelines while supervising CAD designers and permit technicians
• Serve as liaison between clients, governmental agencies, and internal teams to secure approvals and requirements

• Stormwater management modeling (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, StormWater/ICPR4)
• AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS
• Hydraulic and hydrologic analysis
• Project management and financial oversight
• Regulatory compliance and permitting knowledge (FDEP, SFWMD, USACE, FDOT)
• Written and verbal communication
• Microsoft Office Suite
