Water Resources Engineer PE
About this role
Apex Companies seeks a licensed or soon-to-be-licensed Professional Engineer with 5+ years of water resources experience to lead stormwater and flood mitigation projects in Fort Myers. You'll manage design, permitting, and construction oversight while supervising staff and coordinating with regulatory agencies across Florida.
What you'll do
- Lead design of water control structures, flood mitigation, and water quality projects from concept through final construction drawings
- Conduct stormwater analysis and hydrologic modeling using HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and StormWise/ICPR4
- Manage permitting, regulatory compliance, and liaison with clients and agencies including FDEP, SFWMD, and USACE
- Oversee pre-, during-, and post-construction project implementation and field coordination
- Supervise CAD designers, permit technicians, and provide peer review of designs and reports
- Handle project scheduling, budgets, and ensure timely delivery of client needs

- Floodplain mapping, flood assessment, and natural channel design

- ArcGIS and Microsoft Office Suite
- Project management and financial oversight
- Technical writing and public presentation skills
- Team supervision and cross-departmental coordination
