About this role

Archer seeks an experienced Composite Materials Subject Matter Expert to lead the development, qualification, and FAA certification of composite airframe materials and processes for their all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. You'll serve as the technical authority on composite and metallic structures, ensuring safety, performance, and manufacturability while navigating regulatory requirements under 14 CFR Part 23.

What you'll do

  • Lead development and qualification of composite materials and structural processes, including material allowables and design guidelines
  • Author and maintain material and process specifications, test plans, and FAA certification documentation
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and certification teams to ensure structures meet strength, stiffness, fatigue, and damage tolerance requirements
  • Support failure analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective actions for composite structures
  • Interface with FAA, DERs, and regulatory bodies to support certification efforts
  • Serve as technical focal point and SME for thermoset, thermoplastic, prepreg, resin infusion, and out-of-autoclave composite techniques
