About this role
Aurelius Systems, a VC-backed defense tech startup, seeks an Electrical Engineer to design and build high-voltage power systems, embedded controls, and wire harnesses for autonomous laser-based counter-UAS weapons. You'll work across the full electrical stack—from DC/DC converters and battery management to PCB design and field integration—on a small team moving rapidly from prototype to production.
What you'll do
- Design high-voltage power electronics including DC/DC converters, rectifiers, and diode drivers for 48V+ systems
- Develop and validate battery management systems with charge/discharge logic, thermal management, and fault protection
- Build ruggedized wire harnesses for high-power laser and motor systems with proper connector and routing selection
- Perform electrical simulations (SPICE, MATLAB) and hands-on prototyping, assembly, and field testing
- Design embedded control electronics using microcontrollers, FPGAs, sensing, telemetry, and fault handling
- Generate schematics, BOMs, wiring diagrams, and documentation compliant with MIL-STD and ITAR requirements
What they're looking for
- High-voltage circuit design and testing (48V+)
- Power electronics and battery management systems
- Embedded control systems and microcontrollers
- PCB design (Altium Designer) and multi-layer layout
- Wire harness design and fabrication
- SPICE and MATLAB/Simulink simulation
- EMI/EMC design (nice-to-have)
- MIL-STD standards and ITAR compliance (nice-to-have)
