About this role

Aurelius Systems, a VC-backed defense tech startup, seeks a Power Electronics Engineer to architect and own the complete power subsystem for autonomous directed energy weapons. You'll drive battery management, high-voltage conversion, and power delivery systems from design through field deployment on a 400-acre private range.

What you'll do

  • Design and validate battery management systems including charge/discharge, cell balancing, thermal management, and fault protection for high-voltage packs
  • Architect high-voltage DC/DC converters, rectifiers, inverters, and laser diode driver electronics
  • Design ruggedized wire harnesses and conduct hands-on prototyping, assembly, and field testing
  • Execute electrical, environmental, vibration, and shock testing to validate system reliability
  • Perform SPICE and MATLAB/Simulink simulations to optimize designs before manufacturing
  • Generate schematics, BOMs, wiring diagrams, and documentation to MIL-STD and ITAR standards

What they're looking for

  • Battery management system (BMS) architecture and high-voltage integration
  • Power electronics design (48V+ conversion and regulation systems)
  • Altium Designer schematic capture and PCB layout
  • SPICE and MATLAB/Simulink simulation
  • Thermal management and EMI/EMC design
  • Wire harness design and fabrication for deployed systems
  • Ruggedized system design for field environments
  • MIL-STD standards and ITAR compliance familiarity
