Hardware Integration Engineer

About this role

Base Power seeks a Hardware Integration Engineer to design and integrate battery storage, inverter, and microgrid systems for residential energy applications. You'll combine electrical engineering expertise with hands-on hardware development to create safe, scalable solutions that modernize the electrical grid.

What you'll do

• Design and integrate battery management systems, inverters, and microgrid interconnect devices for residential applications
• Develop electrical schematics and system architecture for multi-component energy systems
• Test, validate, and troubleshoot integrated hardware systems
• Collaborate with software teams on hardware-software integration and control algorithms
• Support regulatory compliance and product certification to meet industry standards

What they're looking for

• Electrical engineering fundamentals (circuit analysis, analog/digital electronics, high-voltage design)
• Power electronics (converters, inverters, grid-tie systems)
• Battery systems and BMS design (Li-ion/LiFePO4 technologies)
• Embedded programming (C/C++, Python) and communication protocols (CAN, Modbus)
• PCB design tools (Altium Designer, KiCad)
• Circuit simulation (LTSpice, MATLAB/Simulink)
• Knowledge of UL 1741, IEEE 1547, and NEC standards
• Test equipment operation and troubleshooting
