Software Engineer, Cash App - Lending Products

Join Cash App's Lending team to build scalable financial systems that provide accessible credit to millions of users. You'll work on complex backend infrastructure, APIs, and platforms that power lending capabilities across Cash App and Afterpay, collaborating with cross-functional teams on projects from design through production.

What you'll do

• Partner with credit risk, legal, compliance, and product teams to advance lending capabilities
• Lead or contribute to projects across the full lifecycle with ownership of quality and outcomes
• Design and build clean, developer-friendly APIs optimized for uptime, latency, compliance, and cost
• Develop financial primitives and composable building blocks for Block's intelligence layer
• Operate and manage existing Cash App services while experimenting with emerging approaches
• Support team growth through mentoring, recruiting, and contributing to open-source communities

What they're looking for

• 5+ years building complex software systems
• Java or Kotlin experience
• Microservices and event-driven architecture
• SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redis)
• AWS cloud platform
• gRPC and API design
• AI-first development mindset and agentic engineering
• Financial systems or fintech knowledge (preferred)
