About this role
CarGurus seeks a Software Development Engineer II to build AI-powered consumer experiences in the Purchase team, guiding shoppers through the car buying journey from selection to deal completion. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop high-impact features on our marketplace platform, leveraging modern development practices and AI tools to enhance user engagement.
What you'll do
- Design and implement consumer-facing AI features that help shoppers find the right car with engaging, conversational experiences
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and analysts to move features from concept through technical design, implementation, and testing
- Execute the full development lifecycle including design, development, testing, deployment, and monitoring for millions of users
- Run A/B tests and analyze performance metrics to iterate quickly and validate feature impact
- Use AI coding assistants and multi-agent workflows to prototype solutions and improve code quality
- Partner with product, UX, and analytics teams to ship clean, accessible, and data-driven experiences
