Software Engineer (Mobile & Sensing)
About this role
Cartesian seeks a mobile engineer to build SDKs and end-user applications for an indoor inventory positioning system deployed across retail stores globally. You'll own the full development lifecycle, integrate with diverse hardware peripherals (RFID, barcode readers), and work autonomously in a small, MIT-founded team based in Cambridge.
What you'll do
- Design and develop mobile SDKs and end-user applications that collect sensor data and provide real-time spatial positioning feedback
- Integrate mobile applications with peripheral hardware including RFID scanners, barcode readers, and third-party systems
- Own complete project lifecycle from prototyping new features to shipping and maintaining production systems
- Collaborate cross-functionally with business, sales, and customers to define requirements and prioritize work
- Ensure mobile applications are performant, maintainable, and handle complex data streaming scenarios
- Contribute to backend systems and infrastructure as needed to support mobile functionality
