About this role
Chicago Trading Company seeks an AI Engineer to develop agent tooling and infrastructure supporting LLM-powered applications across the firm's trading, research, and engineering teams. You'll build shared services for model inference, integrations, and user-facing AI tools while collaborating with quants, traders, and engineers to evolve their workflows.
What you'll do
- Design and build agent tooling, frameworks, and harnesses for internal use across engineering, quant, and trading teams
- Develop shared infrastructure for LLM inference, configuration, integrations, tracing, and access controls
- Integrate new models, coding agents, and agent systems as the ecosystem evolves
- Create role-specific AI tools and interfaces tailored to different workflows and user groups
- Prototype novel applications of agents in research, simulation, and trading contexts
- Optimize performance and reliability of deployed systems and shared services
What they're looking for
- LLM and agentic AI development (tools, context, orchestration, model APIs)
- Coding agents and model/provider evaluation and tradeoffs
- Python, C++, and/or Java
- Full-stack development across application, infrastructure, and tooling layers
- Software design for end-user and engineer-facing products
- Problem-solving from ambiguous requirements to production systems
- Model evaluation and benchmarking
- Inference optimization or fine-tuning experience
