Clera
Electrical Engineer
About this role
A venture-backed robotics startup in Austin seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to design and develop the electrical systems for next-generation ground robots built for extreme environments. You'll own PCB design, power distribution, sensor integration, and harness development while collaborating closely with mechanical and software teams on a small, high-impact engineering team.
What you'll do
- Design analog and digital circuits including power regulation, signal conditioning, and sensor interfaces
- Lead full PCB development lifecycle from schematic capture through layout and field bring-up
- Define wiring diagrams, cable harnesses, grounding strategies, and EMI/EMC approaches for robotic systems
- Integrate and validate sensors across thermal, gas, visual, RF, and other modalities
- Conduct and interpret thermal load, EMI, and vibration testing on robotic electrical hardware
- Perform SPICE simulations for analog validation, noise analysis, and circuit stability
What they're looking for
- PCB design and layout (Altium, KiCad, or Eagle)
- Analog and digital circuit design
- Power distribution and regulation
- SPICE simulation and circuit analysis
- Sensor integration and selection
- EMI/EMC design and testing
- Cable harness and wiring design
- Thermal and vibration testing
Benefits
- Equity in an early-stage venture-backed company
- Visa sponsorship available
- Hands-on role with direct product impact
- Collaborative environment with experienced aerospace and defense engineers
- On-site lab access for hardware development and testing
