About this role
A Y Combinator-backed humanoid robotics startup seeks a Robotics Engineer to develop autonomy software for humanoid robots, including perception, locomotion, and interaction systems. You'll work hands-on with cutting-edge hardware, advise manufacturers on sensor and hardware design, and iterate directly on customer deployments in real-world environments.
What you'll do
- Develop onboard C++20 and offboard Python autonomy software for humanoid robot platforms
- Implement and improve camera-based 3D perception including detection, tracking, and gesture recognition
- Advise robot manufacturers on sensor placement, hardware interfaces, and operational design
- Enhance locomotion algorithms for safe, reliable walking in public environments
- Collaborate with animators to refine robot movement and body language
- Deploy and maintain software on custom-hardware-equipped humanoid robots in live customer environments
