About this role
Join Cohere Health as a Software Engineer II to independently deliver features for a healthcare prior authorization platform serving 15+ million members. You'll own full-stack work across Java/Groovy, React/TypeScript, MongoDB, and Kafka while partnering with product and QA teams to build reliable systems healthcare practitioners depend on daily.
What you'll do
- Own story-level work end-to-end: decompose requirements, implement across full stack, and lead release and support
- Design and ship features with strong quality discipline, including appropriate testing and accurate estimates
- Write design notes for non-trivial work, articulating tradeoffs before implementation
- Debug and resolve production issues using logs, metrics, and traces to identify root causes
- Provide high-signal code reviews that catch issues and help teammates grow
- Mentor new team members and support onboarding with well-scoped tasks

- Java or Groovy backend development
- React, JavaScript, and TypeScript frontend development
- NoSQL databases (MongoDB or similar)
- Event-driven systems and messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
- Git version control and CI/CD pipelines
- Automated testing and test frameworks (JUnit, Jest, Cypress, Playwright)
- Production debugging and incident response
- Technical writing and design documentation
