DV Trading
C++ Software Engineer (DV Commodities - Chicago)
About this role
DV Commodities seeks a senior C++ engineer to architect and build a next-generation event-driven trading platform handling execution, market data, and risk management for futures and commodities markets. You'll own the full stack from design to production, working on ultra-low-latency systems that power real trading operations across global exchanges.
What you'll do
- Lead design and implementation of core C++ trading platform including execution engines, order management, market data pipelines, and risk systems
- Design and maintain direct exchange connectivity for CME, ICE, and other futures venues using native protocols (iLink 3, MDP 3.0)
- Optimize for extreme performance: lock-free structures, cache efficiency, kernel-bypass networking, and nanosecond-level latency measurement
- Collaborate with trading desks, quants, and cross-functional teams to implement new features, pricing models, and execution algorithms
- Build high-performance simulation and live trading components
- Own systems end-to-end: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support in live trading environments
What they're looking for
- C++ (17/20) with templates, move semantics, memory models, and concurrency
- Low-latency, high-throughput multi-threaded system design
- Exchange protocols and market microstructure (iLink, MDP, ICE, FIX/SBE)
- Linux/Unix, networking (TCP/UDP, multicast), kernel-bypass stacks (Onload, VMA, DPDK)
- Performance profiling and optimization for trading systems
- Futures, commodities, and energy markets domain knowledge
- Distributed systems, databases (SQL, NoSQL, tick databases)
- Python/NumPy/pandas for research and tooling
