Dyna Robotics
Research Engineer/Scientist, Simulation
About this role
Dyna Robotics seeks a Research Engineer/Scientist to build end-to-end simulation infrastructure for training and evaluating wheeled mobile manipulator policies. You'll own real-to-sim reconstruction, procedural scene generation, synthetic data creation, and photorealistic rendering pipelines that jointly simulate base mobility and arm manipulation at facility scale.
What you'll do
- Build real-to-sim reconstruction pipelines for facility-scale environments including 3D reconstruction and photorealistic rendering
- Develop procedural scene generation to create diverse navigable environments for stress-testing loco-manipulation policies
- Generate synthetic training data for policies that jointly reason about base positioning and arm manipulation
- Create simulation benchmarks evaluating combined base+arm policies rather than manipulation in isolation
- Optimize rendering fidelity specifically to close sim-to-real gap for vision-based loco-manipulation
- Collaborate with AI Research and Data Ops teams to prioritize simulation investments
What they're looking for
- Simulation stacks (MuJoCo, Isaac Sim/Isaac Lab, SAPIEN, Omniverse, or Blender)
- Procedural scene/asset generation and domain randomization
- Photorealistic rendering pipelines at scale
- Mobile base simulation (wheeled, tracked, or holonomic systems)
- Loco-manipulation policy training (imitation learning, VLA, diffusion, RL)
- Python and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch or JAX)
- 3D reconstruction, NeRF/Gaussian splatting, or differentiable rendering
- GPU-scale physics simulation (CUDA, parallel batch simulation)
