About this role

Field AI seeks an Electrical Engineer to design and implement electrical systems for autonomous robotics hardware, including power distribution, PCB design, wire harnesses, and communication networks. You'll work across the full lifecycle from CAD design through production and field deployment, collaborating with mechanical and compute teams to deliver robust, field-ready systems.

What you'll do

  • Design regulated power systems, DC/DC converters, and grounding schemes for robotic payloads
  • Create PCB schematics, layouts, and wire harness designs using CAD tools like KiCAD or Altium
  • Architect wired and wireless communication systems including Ethernet, CAN, USB, and 5G
  • Conduct electrical testing including power validation, signal integrity, EMI/EMC evaluation, and fault analysis
  • Collaborate with sensor, mechanical, and compute teams to integrate electrical systems into complete robotic solutions
  • Support production, QA, debugging, and field deployment of electrical systems

What they're looking for

  • Power systems design and testing (low-voltage regulated systems)
  • PCB schematic and layout design (KiCAD, Altium, or equivalent)
  • Custom wire harness design and integration
  • Communication protocols (USB, Ethernet, CAN, I2C, GMSL, wireless)
  • Electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, EMI/EMC tools)
  • Systems-level thinking and cross-functional collaboration
  • Technical documentation for design and manufacturing
  • Embedded systems and robotics familiarity
