About this role

Flock is seeking an Android Framework Engineer to design and optimize custom Android system services and hardware abstractions for headless AOSP deployments on field devices. You'll work on low-level IPC architecture, system reliability, and over-the-air fleet management across thousands of custom Qualcomm-based hardware units.

What you'll do

  • Architect custom Android system services, AIDL interfaces, and hardware abstraction layers for headless AOSP builds
  • Write testable system-level features in Kotlin, Java, Rust, and C++ that bridge kernel and application layers
  • Debug OS-level memory leaks, deadlocks, and performance issues using Perfetto and Android Profiler
  • Develop automated CTS/VTS test suites and system update pipelines to ensure fleet reliability
  • Perform root-cause analysis on system crashes using tombstone logs and kernel debugging across Qualcomm hardware

  • Custom AOSP configuration, shell scripting, init.rc, and SELinux policies
  • System-level tracing and profiling with Perfetto and tombstone log analysis
