Associate Wireless Software Engineer
About this role
Flock is hiring an Associate Wireless Software Engineer to develop connectivity solutions for drone-based first responder systems. You'll integrate radio hardware into Linux-based embedded stacks, optimize wireless link performance, and collaborate with RF and cloud teams to enable reliable high-definition video and low-latency telemetry for autonomous fleets operating in complex outdoor environments.
What you'll do
- Integrate off-the-shelf and custom radio hardware into drone connectivity architecture across Wi-Fi and cellular stacks
- Write and maintain software routines in C, C++, and Python across Linux user space and driver layers
- Develop automated tools to extract, log, and analyze wireless link metrics such as RSSI, SNR, and packet loss
- Design rate adaptation algorithms with RF, embedded systems, and cloud teams for dynamic flight environments
- Perform flight data analysis and hardware-in-the-loop testing in connectivity labs to validate aerial performance
What they're looking for
- C, C++, and Python programming
- Linux kernel and user-space development
- Networking concepts and wireless communications fundamentals
- Git and debugging tools
- Embedded systems knowledge
- 802.11 or 5G wireless standards (preferred)
- Single-board computers or SDRs (preferred)
- Hardware-in-the-loop testing
Benefits
- Stock options
- Work on mission-critical autonomous technology for public safety
