About this role
Flock seeks an Embedded Software Engineer II to build and optimize core Yocto-based Linux platform components for resource-constrained drone and aerial hardware. You'll own low-level C/C++ development, device bring-up, field troubleshooting, and CI/CD automation for real-world edge systems operating at scale.
What you'll do
- Implement core C and C++ software components for Yocto-based embedded Linux platforms
- Perform lab-based bring-up, debugging, and performance testing on drone and camera hardware
- Identify and resolve software defects and hardware integration issues in development and field deployments
- Document system architectures, technical designs, and test plans for cross-functional alignment
- Author automation scripts in Python or Bash and enhance CI/CD workflows and build systems

- C and C++ development and debugging in embedded Linux
- Yocto Project or similar embedded build systems (Buildroot, OpenEmbedded)
- Low-level Linux concepts, bootloaders (U-Boot), kernel configuration
- Git version control and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
- Shell scripting and system-level debugging
- Python scripting for automation
- Rust for embedded systems (plus)
- ARM architectures and Qualcomm SoCs (plus)
