About this role

Formic seeks a Robotics Field Service Engineer to provide hands-on technical support and maintenance for deployed robotic manufacturing systems across customer facilities in the Chicago area. You'll diagnose failures, restore production, and drive fleet reliability while working directly with plant teams in fast-paced, uptime-critical environments.

What you'll do

  • Perform preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance on robotic manufacturing cells
  • Respond to remote and on-site service escalations, diagnose root causes, and restore systems quickly
  • Provide hands-on technical support and training to customer operators and maintenance teams
  • Log service activity, asset updates, and spare parts requirements in CMMS systems
  • Monitor system performance remotely using fleet dashboards and identify recurring failure patterns
  • Document service work, root cause analysis, and coordinate field scheduling with customers and stakeholders
