About this role

Formlabs seeks an Electrical Engineer to design and develop electronic systems for 3D printing hardware, from circuit design through production validation. This full-stack role spans analog/digital design, PCB layout, embedded firmware, and cross-functional integration with mechanical and software teams.

What you'll do

  • Design, prototype, and validate electronic systems including circuit design, PCB layout, and firmware development
  • Own end-to-end projects with responsibility for shipping products rather than specializing in isolated areas
  • Design subsystems integrating sensors, actuators, and optoelectronics with mechanical requirements
  • Validate designs through simulations and experiments, backing decisions with data
  • Support products throughout lifecycle from research through field debugging
  • Collaborate across electrical, mechanical, and software domains to solve complex integration challenges

What they're looking for

  • Analog and digital circuit design
  • PCB layout and routing
  • Electronics debugging and validation techniques
  • Embedded systems knowledge (microcontroller firmware in C/C++, Linux BSPs)
  • Sensor and actuator integration
  • Electromechanical systems design
  • Product-level electronics development experience
  • Simulation and experimental validation

Benefits

  • Equity compensation in the form of RSUs
  • Comprehensive healthcare (Medical, Dental, Vision)
  • 401(k) matching with financial advisor access
  • Generous parental leave (up to 16 weeks) and sabbatical leave (up to 6 weeks)
  • Flexible time off, on-site parking, pre-tax commuter benefits, and professional development opportunities
  • On-site meals, snacks, and unlimited 3D printing access
