About this role

Formlabs seeks an R&D Reliability/Test Engineer to ensure 3D printer hardware robustness through validation testing, root cause analysis, and automated test equipment design. You'll collaborate with product teams to influence reliability from concept through deployment, analyzing field data to drive continuous improvement.

What you'll do

  • Develop and execute system, subsystem, and component-level validation test plans aligned with design and reliability requirements
  • Perform root cause analysis on electromechanical failures using physics-of-failure methodology and field failure investigation
  • Design, build, and implement automated testing rigs for subsystem characterization and environmental reliability testing
  • Partner with R&D design teams on risk assessments, design reviews, and continuous testing throughout product development
  • Analyze field failure trends, prioritize investigations by business impact, and develop corrective action plans (CAPAs)
  • Translate complex test data and failure patterns into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders
