About this role

General Matter, a nuclear fuel enrichment startup backed by Founders Fund, seeks an Applied AI Engineer to accelerate critical engineering workflows using modern AI. You'll embed with engineering teams to identify bottlenecks, build AI-powered tools, and redefine how nuclear engineering is conducted at scale.

What you'll do

  • Embed with engineering teams to identify workflow bottlenecks and acceleration opportunities
  • Design and build AI tools to enable engineers to conduct complex safety and physics analyses independently
  • Challenge long-standing industry assumptions about what requires specialist expertise or manual processes
  • Iterate rapidly from problem identification to tool deployment across multiple teams
  • Drive adoption of AI-first approaches to nuclear engineering workflows
  • Collaborate across nuclear licensing, integrated safety analysis, and technoeconomic modeling domains
