About this role

General Matter seeks a Controls & Automation Engineer to design and implement control systems for nuclear fuel enrichment test stands and production equipment. You'll work across PLCs, SCADA/HMI platforms, and systems software in C++ or Rust to build safety-critical automation infrastructure for a mission-driven startup backed by top-tier investors.

What you'll do

  • Design and maintain PLC-based control systems for chemical processing equipment and production systems
  • Develop and integrate SCADA/HMI systems for monitoring, control, and operational visibility
  • Build supporting services in C++ or Rust for high-reliability, performance-critical components
  • Define software engineering practices, architecture standards, and testing strategies for control systems
  • Collaborate with hardware and electrical teams to integrate sensors, actuators, and field devices
  • Lead debugging, root cause analysis, and reliability improvements across the automation stack

  • PLC programming (Beckhoff/TwinCAT, Siemens, Rockwell, or equivalent)
