Glydways

Software Engineer, Onboard Integration

Richmond, CAmidAdded today

About this role

Glydways is seeking a Software Engineer to build mission-critical onboard software for autonomous vehicles in a personal rapid transit system. You'll own the embedded software foundation that integrates sensors, actuators, autonomy runtimes, and fleet operations—working across hardware, firmware, and software boundaries to ship reliable systems that move real passengers.

What you'll do

  • Design and develop mission-critical onboard software running on Glydways vehicles from prototype through deployment
  • Build and maintain high-performance interfaces to onboard sensors (cameras, radar, LiDAR, IMUs) and vehicle control systems
  • Integrate ML runtimes and robotics middleware to enable autonomy workloads to execute reliably on resource-constrained hardware
  • Develop systems for live fleet operations including deployment pipelines, vehicle provisioning, logging, and observability
  • Debug issues across software, firmware, and electrical boundaries on test vehicles and in the field
  • Collaborate with Autonomy, Hardware, and Operations teams to define interfaces and ship features to the fleet

What they're looking for

  • C++ or C for production systems
  • Device drivers and low-level sensor/actuator interfaces
  • Embedded Linux (Yocto, Buildroot, or similar)
  • Communication protocols (SPI, UART, CAN, TCP/UDP)
  • Robotics middleware (ROS, ROS 2, LCM, or ARK)
  • Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing frameworks
  • Resource-constrained embedded hardware development
  • End-to-end feature ownership and production system support
