What you'll do
- Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks and automation frameworks for large-scale Linux environment management
- Implement system hardening, configuration management, and performance optimization across enterprise inventories
- Design Infrastructure as Code solutions to establish consistent system state and detect/correct configuration drift
- Collaborate with mission partners and stakeholders to identify automation opportunities and prioritize high-impact improvements
- Ensure compliance with federal security frameworks including STIG, RMF, and NIST standards
- Translate early automation wins into scalable methodologies and communicate value to leadership
What they're looking for
- Ansible automation and playbook development
- Linux administration (RHEL/RedHat Enterprise Linux)
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies
- Bash, Python, or PowerShell scripting
- Federal/DoD compliance frameworks (STIG, RMF, NIST)
- Configuration drift detection and remediation
- System hardening and security compliance
- Cloud platforms or virtualization (VMware, Kubernetes, AWS/Azure/GCP preferred)
Likely interview questions
- Walk us through a complex Ansible automation project where you managed configuration drift across a large inventory—what challenges did you face and how did you ensure idempotency?
- Describe your experience with federal compliance frameworks like STIG or RMF. How have you incorporated these requirements into Linux system hardening automation?
