About this role

Staff-level database infrastructure leader responsible for designing and operating Harvey's global PostgreSQL fleet across multiple regions. You'll define migration governance standards, drive multi-region scaling architecture, and establish operational practices that keep the data layer reliable while enabling rapid growth in a legal AI platform.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement migration governance framework including review workflows, CI gates, automated rollback, and fleet-wide deployment sequencing
  • Drive technical strategy for global database fleet including multi-region replication, capacity planning, sharding, and fleet-wide observability
  • Own database reliability and performance at fleet level—monitoring replication, optimizing queries, tuning configuration, and building alerting systems
  • Build self-service tooling and developer guardrails to enable teams to migrate safely without bottlenecking on database expertise
  • Lead database incident response, run post-incident reviews, and translate lessons into durable process and tooling improvements
  • Partner with Security and Compliance on data-layer controls for SOC 2, GDPR, and data residency requirements
