About this role
Heart Aerospace seeks an experienced CNC Programmer/Machinist to establish and lead their in-house machine shop supporting hybrid-electric aircraft development. As the first hire, you'll program and operate CNC equipment to machine large aluminum structural components and specialized parts, developing processes from prototype through early production.
What you'll do
- Program, set up, and operate Haas 3-axis and 5-axis CNC mills using Autodesk Fusion CAM
- Machine large aluminum structural components, battery/electrical housings, and test tooling from various materials
- Design and build fixtures, work holding solutions, and complete machine setups
- Develop machining strategies and tool lists prioritizing safety, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness
- Perform first article inspections, manual mill/lathe work, and finishing operations like deburring and threading
- Apply GD&T and inspection methods to ensure parts meet engineering specifications

- CNC programming and operation (Haas mills)
- Autodesk Fusion CAM software
- Aluminum and multi-material machining (stainless steel, titanium, various heat treatments)
- Fixture and work-holding design
- Renishaw probing systems and precision inspection
- GD&T and geometric dimensioning tolerancing
- Manual mill and lathe operation
- First article inspection and quality control
