About this role

IEM seeks an Applications Design Engineer to provide pre-order engineering support for low and medium voltage switchgear systems, collaborating with sales and design teams to develop custom power distribution solutions. The role combines technical expertise in three-phase power systems, automation, and communications with hands-on design work using CAD and industry standards.

What you'll do

  • Develop preliminary drawings, communication diagrams, sequences of operation, and bills of materials for customer orders
  • Review customer specifications and scope of work to ensure alignment with product capabilities before handoff to design teams
  • Collaborate with design, mechanical, and production teams to engineer solutions for unique applications
  • Provide technical training on IEM products and applications to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure designs comply with NEC, UL, and IEEE standards and codes
  • Build and maintain libraries of standard design details, tools, and CAD resources
