About this role
IEM seeks a Senior Field Service Engineer specializing in rotary UPS (RUPS) systems to lead on-site commissioning, startup, and maintenance of complex power distribution systems. This role requires expertise in mechanical systems, generators, and rotating equipment rather than traditional static UPS background, with responsibility for system integration, troubleshooting, and training across North American field operations.
What you'll do
- Lead on-site startup, commissioning, and preventative maintenance of RUPS systems including generator integration and facility electrical infrastructure
- Perform functional testing, load bank testing, system synchronization, and complete system validation
- Troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical issues with generators, flywheels, switchgear, control systems, and fuel systems
- Train junior field service technicians on startup procedures, troubleshooting protocols, and safe equipment operation
- Coordinate with third-party vendors and customers to resolve recurring equipment issues within integrated RUPS systems
- Travel to customer sites and manufacturing facilities for commissioning, factory testing, and training activities
