About this role
IEM seeks a Senior Field Service Engineer specializing in rotary UPS (RUPS) systems to lead on-site commissioning, startup, and maintenance of complex power distribution systems. This role combines electrical expertise with mechanical knowledge of generators and flywheels, serving as the technical point of contact for RUPS installations across North America in data centers, hospitals, and industrial facilities.
What you'll do
- Lead on-site startup, commissioning, and preventative maintenance of RUPS systems including generator integration and facility electrical infrastructure
- Perform functional testing, load bank testing, system synchronization, and complete system validation
- Troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical issues with generators, flywheels, switchgear, control systems, and coupling assemblies
- Interface with third-party vendors and customers to resolve recurring equipment issues within integrated RUPS systems
- Train junior field service technicians on startup procedures, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and safe equipment operation
- Complete startup documentation, test reports, daily reports, and customer records; coordinate with cross-functional teams and customers
