About this role

IEM seeks a Senior Field Service Engineer specializing in rotary UPS systems to lead on-site commissioning, startup, and maintenance of complex power distribution systems. This role demands expertise in mechanical systems, generators, and rotating equipment, with responsibility for system integration, troubleshooting, and training field personnel across North American facilities.

What you'll do

  • Lead on-site startup, commissioning, and preventative maintenance of RUPS systems including generator integration and facility electrical infrastructure
  • Perform functional testing, load bank testing, system synchronization, and complete validation to ensure performance specifications are met
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical issues involving generators, flywheels, switchgear, control systems, and fuel systems
  • Train junior field service technicians on startup procedures, troubleshooting protocols, and safe equipment operation
  • Interface with clients, contractors, and internal teams during commissioning and acceptance testing
  • Travel to customer sites and manufacturing facilities to lead commissioning activities, factory testing, and training exercises
