Legal Operations Manager

Role

As the Legal Operations Lead for Intrinsic and other Alphabet portfolio projects, including Tapestry, you will develop and scale processes that enable legal teams to deliver efficient, consistent, and high-quality services.

You will provide shared legal operations support across multiple teams, partnering with legal, finance, business development, and operations stakeholders to streamline contracting workflows, improve legal technology and processes, and establish scalable operational practices.

You will oversee contract lifecycle management (CLM), legal technology, outside counsel billing, budgets, and knowledge management. A key focus of this role will be identifying opportunities to leverage AI and automation to improve legal operations, reduce manual processes, and drive operational efficiency.

You will identify opportunities to standardize processes across teams while accommodating the distinct business needs of each organization. You are an independent thinker who demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and exceptional attention to detail.

Legal Tooling Management

• Contracts & Processes: Manage CLM platform and improve commercial contracting processes with playbooks, templates, guidance materials, standardized approval workflows, and self-service resources.
• AI & Legal Process Automation:Proactively identify, evaluate, and implement AI-powered tools and automation solutions to streamline legal workflows, accelerate contract management, reduce manual processes, and improve operational efficiency. Partner with legal and cross-functional stakeholders to drive responsible AI adoption and scalable processes.
• Technology Integration: Integrate legal technology platforms with existing business systems, leveraging APIs, structured data, and automation to improve workflow connectivity and operational effectiveness.
• Cross-Functional Operations. Partner with legal, finance, business development, revenue, marketing, and compliance stakeholders across participating organizations to develop scalable operational processes and support business growth.
• Shared Legal Operations: Establish consistent legal intake, contracting, documentation, and prioritization processes across multiple portfolio teams while accommodating organization-specific requirements.

Legal Team Management

• Vendors & Outside Counsel Management. Serve as a primary point of contact for legal vendors, outside counsel, and technology providers, including onboarding, relationship management, troubleshooting, and performance oversight.
• Budget & Finance. Manage legal team financial operations, including invoice collection and payment, budgeting, forecasting, outside counsel billing, and identification of spending trends.
• Legal Team Operations. Support legal team onboarding, learning and development programs, team offsites, knowledge management, records management, and other operational initiatives.
• Operational Reporting & Process Improvement: Develop reporting mechanisms to track legal requests, contract status, turnaround times, and operational performance. Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to increase efficiency and transparency across supported teams.

What you should have

• BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience managing legal operations, preferably within a technology company, startup, or high-growth environment.
• Experience with contract lifecycle management systems, commercial contracting workflows, and legal technology platforms.
• Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional projects, improving operational processes, and implementing scalable solutions.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to independently manage competing priorities across multiple teams in a fast-paced environment while exercising sound judgment, discretion, and attention to detail.

What we hope you have

• Experience leveraging AI-powered tools, automation platforms, or emerging legal technologies to optimize legal workflows and improve operational efficiency.
• Experience with Ironclad or similar contract lifecycle management platforms.
• Experience with API integration, including structuring requests, parsing JSON and YAML responses, and using automation scripts or platforms to connect systems.
• Experience working independently and collaboratively with attorneys on contract interpretation, negotiation, review and document organization.
• Experience supporting legal operations across multiple business units, subsidiaries, or shared-services environments.

The base salary for this full-time position is between $157,600 - $214,840 (USD) + 20% bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
