About this role

Inversion is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to design and develop advanced reentry vehicles for space-based logistics. You'll own mechanical design projects end-to-end, from vehicle structures to payload integration, working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced startup environment.

What you'll do

  • Lead mechanical design of primary/secondary structures, payload accommodations, and thermal protection interfaces for reentry vehicles
  • Collaborate with propulsion and avionics teams to integrate mechanical systems critical to vehicle performance
  • Size, package, and integrate flight components using CAD software
  • Perform finite element and hand-calculation analysis on flight and non-flight components
  • Develop and execute test plans for environmental qualification including vibration, shock, thermal, and load testing
