About this role
Latitude AI seeks an Embedded Software Engineer II to develop critical platform software for Ford's autonomous vehicle technology launching in 2027. You'll build and maintain real-time C++ applications on ARM-based Linux systems, focusing on automotive diagnostic protocols (UDS/ISO 14229) and embedded software excellence with ASPICE and ISO26262 compliance.
What you'll do
- Develop and maintain UDS (ISO 14229) diagnostic stack and embedded C++ software on ARM Linux platforms
- Own specific modules end-to-end, responsible for design, implementation, testing, and long-term maintainability
- Implement unit, integration, and bench-level tests with test-first methodology to validate subsystems
- Debug complex system-level issues involving IPC frameworks, network stacks, and hardware peripherals
- Perform code reviews ensuring correctness, edge case handling, and coding standard adherence
- Collaborate cross-functionally with ML, robotics, and systems teams; mentor junior engineers in diagnostics
What they're looking for
- Modern C++ (C++14+) with MISRA-C++ coding standards
- Linux userspace application development on ARM embedded platforms
- Automated testing frameworks and Python scripting for diagnostics
- System-level debugging (IPC, network stacks, hardware peripherals)
- Software design principles and architectural thinking
- UDS (ISO 14229) and automotive diagnostic protocols
- ARM TrustZone / OP-TEE or TEE-based security models (nice-to-have)
- Linux development tools: gtest, Bazel, Docker, Git
Benefits
- Work on Ford's next-generation autonomous driving platform debuting 2027
- Collaborate with leading experts in ML, robotics, and autonomous systems
- Operate as part of a startup-speed tech team within Ford Motor Company
- Multiple location options: Pittsburgh PA, Palo Alto CA, or Detroit MI
