OSP Engineer
About this role
Lumos seeks an experienced OSP Engineer to design and plan fiber optic network infrastructure for FTTH projects. You'll prepare construction drawings, manage permits, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure cost-effective routing of cables and conduits across overhead and underground installations.
What you'll do
- Prepare detailed construction and installation drawings; review CAD, GIS data, and OSP prints for compliance with project requirements
- Estimate labor, materials costs, and perform design loss calculations
- Map and draft using CAD tools; research and update ICMS records, permits, and ISP designs
- Manage OSP work schedules, develop cost studies, track budgets, and report project progress
- Validate data using Excel, SQL, and Snowflake to identify discrepancies and support engineering decisions
- Liaise with city officials on permitting, customers on easements, and vendors to ensure project alignment and timelines

- OSP construction and design (5+ years)
- CAD and GIS mapping systems (3GIS or equivalent)
- Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis)
- OSHA, NESC, and telecommunications regulations
- SQL and Snowflake database queries (preferred)
- Project management and cost estimation
- Fiber optic network architecture and standards
- Power BI or similar reporting tools (preferred)
