Software Engineer - Test Automation (SDET)
About this role
Mach9 seeks a Test Automation Engineer to build and maintain comprehensive automated test suites for a browser-based 3D CAD platform used by civil engineers. You'll own test infrastructure, catch regressions before customers do, and enable fast, confident shipping while supporting AI-assisted development workflows.
What you'll do
- Expand automated test coverage across the CAD editor and related features
- Design and evolve test infrastructure and CI pipelines to maintain speed and reliability at scale
- Eliminate flaky tests and ensure build failures indicate real bugs
- Build diagnostic tools for AI coding agents to reproduce and verify fixes
- Improve application testability for complex 3D editor workflows
- Guide other engineers on writing testable code and durable tests

- Playwright, Cypress, WebdriverIO, or similar E2E testing frameworks
- TypeScript or JavaScript
- E2E test framework architecture (fixtures, test data, isolation, parallelization)
- CI/CD integration and pipeline optimization
- Application code debugging and root cause analysis
- Performance regression tracking
- 3D/CAD/geospatial/high-performance editor testing experience
- AI-assisted development concepts
