About this role

OpenAI seeks an AI Deployment Engineer to guide strategic partners through building, launching, and maintaining ChatGPT and Codex plugins. This hands-on role combines product engineering, partner collaboration, and technical leadership—working across code, architecture review, platform improvements, and cross-functional coordination to ship genuinely useful integrations.

What you'll do

  • Own the complete technical partner journey from pitch through architecture, build, evaluation, submission, launch, and post-launch maintenance
  • Identify strong plugin use cases, define user journeys, and help partners focus on high-value ChatGPT/Codex workflows
  • Write production code, build prototypes, and create technical guidance, evaluation frameworks, and debugging tools
  • Debug API contracts, OAuth flows, tool invocation, latency, rate limits, and cross-system issues
  • Review partner architectures and implementations for API design, security, data handling, privacy, and reliability
  • Contribute platform improvements to ChatGPT, Codex, and the plugins platform; translate partner feedback into reusable playbooks and requirements
