Systems Test Engineer, End-to-End Validation | Consumer Devices
About this role
OpenAI is seeking a Systems Test Engineer to design and execute end-to-end validation for next-generation AI consumer devices, spanning hardware, software, cloud services, and connectivity. You'll build test environments, reproduce failures across complex systems, automate validation workflows, and partner with engineering teams to ensure reliable product experiences from prototype through launch.
What you'll do
- Design structured test plans and reproducible procedures for user journeys, edge cases, and failure scenarios across devices, services, and accessories
- Build and maintain complex test environments involving devices, servers, networks, and controlled conditions; execute test campaigns and communicate blocking issues
- Reproduce and diagnose complex failures, isolate contributing components, and provide engineers with clear reproduction steps and supporting evidence
- Identify and develop automation for high-value manual workflows using scripting tools and test infrastructure
- Convert field issues and production failures into repeatable regression tests and maintain coverage across releases
- Collaborate with embedded, systems, cloud, hardware, and product teams to improve system testability and validation coverage
