Long Beach, California$106k–$160kentryAdded today

About this role

Relativity Space seeks an Avionics Hardware Engineer to design and develop custom electronics for the Terran R launch vehicle. You'll manage hardware through its complete lifecycle—from initial design through flight qualification—while collaborating across propulsion, guidance, and stage engineering teams to ensure seamless vehicle integration.

What you'll do

  • Design custom electronic circuits and PCBs for Terran R avionics systems using eCAD tools
  • Execute board bring-up, validation, debugging, and performance testing activities
  • Manage hardware development lifecycle from concept through production and flight operations
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, thermal, software, propulsion) on integrated solutions
  • Conduct design verification and qualification testing to ensure reliability and flight readiness
  • Analyze test data and troubleshoot hardware issues to meet schedule and performance requirements

What they're looking for

  • PCB design and eCAD software (Altium or equivalent)
  • Hardware bring-up and board-level debugging
  • Embedded systems and avionics fundamentals
  • Electrical schematic design and analysis
  • Data analysis and test instrumentation
  • Cross-functional collaboration and communication
  • Project management and timeline tracking
  • Embedded software integration (preferred)

Benefits

  • High degree of ownership on components that will fly on Terran R
  • Opportunity to shape fundamental avionics architecture
  • Rapid iteration and feedback loops with integrated design-manufacturing-test structure
  • Early-stage impact on product, process, and company culture
  • Collaboration with talented engineers across multiple technical domains

Likely interview questions

  • Walk us through a PCB design project you led from schematic to manufacturing—what were the key challenges and how did you resolve them?
  • Describe your experience with hardware bring-up and board validation. What debugging tools and techniques do you rely on most?
