Cape Canaveral, FloridaFrom $156kmidAdded today
About this role
Relativity Space seeks a Manufacturing Engineer II to lead test and launch structure fabrication and integration for the Terran R rocket at Cape Canaveral. You'll collaborate across engineering disciplines to optimize manufacturing processes, coordinate vendor work, and ensure designs meet tolerance and manufacturability requirements in a fast-paced aerospace environment.
What you'll do
- Lead fabrication and integration efforts for test and launch structures, including vendor coordination and full process ownership
- Evaluate and implement optimal manufacturing solutions in collaboration with test and launch design engineers
- Select techniques and processes that achieve design tolerances while managing precision tooling and ground support equipment
- Support structural build projects including lifting, rigging, integration, and proof testing activities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (fluids, civil, electrical, mechanical) to develop integration strategies
- Provide input on and approve designs for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness
What they're looking for
- CAD software (NX, Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent)
- Structural fabrication and assembly processes
- In-field fabrication techniques (line boring, match drilling, milling, metrology)
- Tolerance analysis and precision measurement
- Technical problem-solving and failure analysis
- Project coordination and vendor management
- Knowledge of lifting, rigging, and integration procedures
- Proof testing and structural validation
Benefits
- Work on cutting-edge rocket launch vehicle development
- Exposure to all major aspects of Terran R at launch operations
- High autonomy and ownership across the product lifecycle
- Collaborate with world-class aerospace engineering teams
- Located at Cape Canaveral—historic launch site with immediate project visibility
- Opportunity to shape manufacturing processes and culture from early stages
Likely interview questions
- Describe your experience with structural fabrication and assembly—what specific techniques have you used to achieve tight tolerances?
- Walk us through a challenging integration project you supported. What obstacles did you encounter and how did you solve them?
